We only carry fabrics that we trust and believe in. All our suits and shirts are made from the most prestigious Italian and British mills. We have a small selection of deadstock and vintage fabrics that we have collected from our various trips to Naples, Firenze and Milan in our showroom and storage. We can also accommodate any special orders and will procure one-off fabrics at no extra cost.

We started Trunk Tailors with one goal. To offer 100% handmade suits using the finest fabrics from around the world at the most competitive price in the market.

We travel extensively around the world to learn, embrace and promote the culture of fine tailoring. This enables us to provide sound advice to our clients that will best serve their needs in their environment. Each appointment with us should be a gentle step away from the daily grind, where one can truly enjoy the experience and be unencumbered. An utmost emphasis is placed on building a slow relationship with each individual client, our only benchmark is the amount of returning clients. Our business is built around the idea that we would rather make 5 suits for 100 clients, rather than 1 suit for 500 clients.

All our suits are not hand finished but completely hand made from scratch in a small family owned workshop near the outskirts of Hong Kong. Every suit starts as a blank canvas, the patterns are hand drawn and is designed individually for every customer’s unique body. Every single buttonhole is stitched by hand and complemented by fully pick stitched seams. There are no machines in our workshop apart from the straight sewing machine, everything else is done by hand, as it should be. Your suit is conceived by both our master tailor and head cutter, with more than 30 years experience each.

Q: How long is the entire process?

6 - 8 weeks are required from first fitting to the end product. We are able to achieve the fast turnaround by working closely with our suppliers, shipping agents and workshop without compromising on quality. As all our suits are made by hand, we are able to provide as quickly as 2 weeks turn around for additional cost to compensate our tailor and cutters.

Q: How much does a suit cost?

Our prices are $1,600 for most of our Italian and British mills and vary according to the difficulty in fabric procurement. There are no surcharges for any amount of detail, allowing the client to make personal preferences with ease.

As the project is born purely out of passion, we are able to offer the most competitive rate in the market that allows our customers to sit back and enjoy the difference of a 100% handmade suit.

Q: What is the construction of your suits?

We only offer full canvassed construction for our suits. We are able to vary the amount of canvas used based on your needs, taking into consideration your work environment, the weather and the fabric used. However, for our cotton and linen summer suits, we recommend an empty construction with no canvas. Both types are made with the same amount of handwork and dedication.

Q: Are your suits bespoke?

All our suits are made from scratch and do not have set sample garments or model akin to the usual MTM process. This allows a much more intimate level of personalisation and appreciation for tailoring.

Every single order's pattern is kept on file and in our workshop. You have the peace of mind knowing that your pattern is cemented from your first commission and we will work vigorously to improve and tweak the patterns as the relationship continues.

The customer has complete freedom with every detail of the suit, but we are here to guide you through the process. We would put ourselves as somewhere between bespoke and made to measure without the ‘how do I explain to my partner’ price tag, but also enough details to make sure you are not wearing an identical suit as the new grammar school intern.

Q: Do you offer alterations?

Alterations and further fittings are complimentary and are included in the initial price.
